Loft Conversions in Oxford, Abingdon, Wallingford and Didcot
Trussed Roof conversion – trussed roofs are characterised by their ‘W’ shaped frames. Converting a loft with a truss roof needs careful planning to maximizes the usable area of your loft whilst ensuring the structural integrity is retained. Head on over to our projects page to see our latest truss roof conversion.
Dormer conversion – The addition of a dormer is a great way to add extra headroom to your new space, large windows or french doors can be added to create a light and airy space.
Velux conversion – If you already have sufficient headroom, a Velux conversion will flood your space with light and with no major alterations needed to your roof structure the costs can be kept down.
Hip-to-Gable conversion – building up the gable end to create a traditional pitch and extending your roof line is one of the most popular ways of adding headroom and space. Hip-to-Gable conversions work perfectly with adding dormers.
Bungalow conversion – A great way to add a first floor to your bungalow, by using the existing loft space you can add a lot of value to your home. By combining some of the components such as Velux windows, building hip to gable and adding dormers you can create a large, light and usable space.
Structural only conversion – we offer a part-build conversion to help spread costs. We will complete all the structural work required, install your windows and your stairs. The outside will be left complete and scaffold down, the inside will be left ready for first fix for all trades. You then have two options, have us come into finish the loft at a later date or carry out the internal work yourself, this is a popular option with lots of Diy-ers
The four key stages
Quotation – We will provide you with a thorough quotation with a full breakdown of the work included. We work on the basis that there are no hidden costs, we encourage all our clients to ask lots of questions ensuring they fully understand the process, there are never any silly questions.
Design – Once you’ve accepted our quotation, our experienced designer will visit and draw you a beautiful bespoke conversion, once you’ve signed off your design, structural calculations and full spec are then completed. The majority of loft conversions can be completed under Permitted Development but should Planning Permission be required you will be advised and we can apply for this to ensure your build meets all your local authorities regulations.
Build – The most exciting part! You can watch your home changing and progressing every day, we send regular photos to update you at every step. Although the exact process for each loft differs, a typical conversion would follow this order:
We try to minimise the disruption to the rest of your house by containing the majority of the work in the loft for as long as we can, we break through for the stairs to be installed around week 5. In addition to the structural work the plumber and electrician will visit the site to install any necessary pipework and cables.
Completion – the finishing touches to your loft conversion are now being carried out, plastering, skirting, architraves and doors installed, stair balustrade fitted, face plates for sockets, light switches and fittings and your new bathroom and radiators installed. All waste is removed from site.
Your conversion will be left ready to prep and paint. We can organise a professional painter for you if you don’t want to do the painting!
